About 400 City of Shreveport employees could get parity raises of 4% to 8% starting Jan. 1, a city administration official told the City Council on Sept. 22.
The official said the parity increases would be included in the budget the mayor sends the council next week. The council decides whether to appropriate the money when it passes the budget.
Raises would depend on how far an employee's pay is below parity and how long they have worked for the city. An employee moving up one pay level would get 4%, or 6% with five or more years of service; moving up two levels would mean 6% or 8%.
The city plans to review the list of eligible employees with department heads in October and send each affected employee a letter in November.
The administration is also proposing a 3% increase in next year's budget, with approval set for March 1.
The council also introduced resolutions on two off-airport land leases with the Federal Aviation Administration and a golf-course equipment lease.
